GENIUS PRODUCTS ANNOUNCES FILING OF 8-K REFLECTING CLOSING OF EXCLUSIVE DISTRIBUTION AGREEMENT WITH ESPN HOME ENTERTAINMENT

SANTA MONICA, CA -- July 10, 2006 -- Genius Products, Inc. (OTCBB: GNPI) announced today that it has entered into an agreement with ESPN Enterprises, Inc. ("ESPN") to be the exclusive distributor of ESPN Home Entertainment content in North America. In connection with the signing of the agreement, Genius Products filed with the Securities Exchange Commission a Report on Form 8-K.

The agreement includes home video content from ESPN, including ESPN Original Entertainment titles such as "3", "Four Minutes", "The Junction Boys", "Playmakers", "Through the Fire", "Tilt", and the upcoming "Ali Rap," along with SportsCentury, ESPN Classic, ESPN Outdoors, X Games, ABC Sports, and college sports titles.

Under the terms of the agreement, which extends through December 31, 2011, Genius will distribute a minimum of 15 titles per year. Genius began distributing ESPN titles in June 2006.
